Plot Summary

For many, Milton Glaser is the personification of American graphic design. Best known for co-founding New York Magazine and creating the enduring I love NY campaign, the full breadth of Glaser's remarkable artistic output is revealed in this documentary portrait, MILTON GLASER: TO INFORM AND DELIGHT. From newspapers and magazine designs, to interior spaces, logos and brand identities, to his celebrated prints, drawings, posters and paintings, the documentary offers audiences a much richer appreciation for one of the great modern renaissance men. Artfully directed by first-time filmmaker Wendy Keys, the film glances into everyday moments of Glaser's personal life and captures his immense warmth and humanity, as well as the boundless depth of his intelligence and creativity.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: May leave you with the impression that the spirit of modern New York was conjured out of thin air by its subject. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Docu splendidly focuses on the artist but gives shorter shrift to the art itself. – Ronnie Scheib, Variety, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It's a pleasant, largely anecdotal portrait. – Aaron Hillis, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Diverting as Glaser is being retrospective, it's so much more interesting -- not to mention truer to his achievement -- watching him being creative. – Mark Feeney, Boston Globe, Jun 24, 2010

Glaser is God

In the '60's, "Clapton is God" was scrawled on a wall in an Underground station in London. In the '70's, graphic designers, such as myself, were scrawling "Glaser is God" all over our drafting tables. He still is. Watch this movie and you will see why.

The Spirit of Humanism Survives

Milton Glaser reminds us that what the world needs is a rebirth of the humanist spirit. In a world awash in dogmatism and demagoguery we need to return to ourselves and explore the depths within. He is a man of ideas. Very inspiring.

Plus, the dude can freakin draw.

A Master in Design

It was a big pleasure to see Mr. Glaser in this documet film. I have since 1970 followed his work and must say : he is the Da Vinci og the graphic design inn the world to day. For a graphic designer this is a MUST to see.
