Plot Summary
Directed by Spike Lee from a screenplay written by James McBride, the author of the acclaimed novel of the same name, the film chronicles the story of four African American soldiers who are members of the U.S. Army as part of the all black 92nd Buffalo Soldier Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy, during World War II. They experience the tragedy and triumph of the war as they find themselves trapped behind enemy lines and separated from their unit after one of them risks his life to save an Italian boy. Miracle at St. Anna explores a deeply inspiring story that transcends national boundaries, race and class to touch the goodness within us all.

Rotten: Pedestrian and awkward, this film is a disappointment not only in comparison with Lee's earlier epic, the underrated Malcolm X, but also in comparison with another film with similar aims, Rachid Bouchareb's Days of Glory.
Rotten: The impulse here is to say something about the nobility of this movie's intent or to note that Spike Lee is one of our best filmmakers. But the first and most honest thing to say about Miracle at St. Anna is that it's an awful mess.
Rotten: Lee takes nearly three hours to tell this sad tale, but he never makes the most of the opportunity.
Rotten: The sad thing is, there's a perfectly fine, Sam Fulle-rish, 90-minute war movie on a worthy subject trapped somewhere in the self-indulgences of Miracle at St. Anna.

With this economy, LET US RENT IT!!!!!!
Come on we're broke let us rent it!
Rent for the story
The story is a great one, makes me wish i read the book instead of seeing the movie. I couldnt believe how terrible the acting was, it was painful to sit thru. if you like war movies then this is worth a rent, but wouldnt buy it.
Great Movie
Most people think that acting in war movies should be flawless, but I think this movie hit it on the head of how people really act in the Military especially in those days. Keep in mind this isn't a John Wayne war movie. We all know how brutal Nazi's were & how bloody that war was and I think this movie portrays that very well. I agree that the movie is long but it's we'll worth the buy. I think the plot was set up nicely at the beginning of the movie and it kept me wanting to know why throughout the movie til' the end. The movie had big name actors in it but no one stood out over every one else. Enjoy the Movie, I only ask that you keep in mind that this is a real war movie not the Grade A acting blockbuster these 1 star giving jack****s expected it to be.
