Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Though not pretentious, [the] film feels a tad overthought, held back somehow by a stubborn, dour obscurity clouding its freshly realized, lurid milieu.
Fresh: An atmospheric tragedy set in the sordid world of Bombay's exploitation-film industry during the late 1980s.
Fresh: Ahluwalia's documentarian background and extensive research make believable even cliches like sibling rivalry and the "All About Eve" catfight for attention among the actresses.
Rotten: Miss Lovely sets out to prove that Indian cinema can be as rambling, pretentious and frustratingly opaque as a European art movie. It succeeds rather too well.
