Mississippi Burning

An excellent film that captures the horror and fear African Americans experienced in Mississippi as well as the frustration the FBI felt trying to do its job to eradicate those experiences. Superb acting by Hackman, Dafoe, Ms. McDormand, and Dourif. The supporting cast is equally as talented. A must see film.

Not Great, But Solid

While the movie is, in my opinion, a philosophical mess (state and local government officials abuse their power thereby justifying federal officials to abuse theirs, and so on), the story is well-written, and the performances by Hackman and Dafoe are first rate, making it an entertaining, if not enjoyable film.

Mississippi Burning

Moving and difficult to watch depiction of the south during a very troubled historical era. Movie has stood the test of time. It’s difficult to watch, yet draws you to watch it over and over.
