Plot Summary

In capturing their 12th World Series crown in five games, the New York Yankees once again broke the hearts of Brooklyn baseball fans. After each team claimed a 1-0 victory after two games, the nearly flawless pitching continued deep into Game 3 as the score remained tied 1-1 going into the top of the ninth inning. After the Yankees plated three runs in the top of the ninth frame, the Dodgers responded with two solo blasts in the bottom of the ninth. However, the comeback fell short as Joe Page struck out pinch hitter Bruce Edwards to squelch the rally. With a 2-1 series lead, the Yankees captured the next two games by jumping out to early leads and turning back Dodgers rallies. Relief artist Joe Page was presented with the first World Series MVP award with one win, one save, and a 2.00 ERA with eight strikeouts in nine innings of work.
