Plot Summary
The 1951 Postseason is famous for Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard Round the World" to win the National League Pennant for the New York Giants. Riding this momentum, the Giants won two out of the first three games in the Fall Classic, but the Yankees stormed back to capture their 14th crown in 18 attempts. The clutch hitting and fielding of World Series MVP Phil Rizzuto and regular season MVP Yogi Berra led the way, as Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio played his final games in pinstripes. This World Series marked a changing of the guard as 36-year-old DiMaggio bowed out after 13 seasons in the Bronx while the Giants were sparked by a 20-year-old rookie named Willie Mays.
