Plot Summary
It was the fourth time in seven seasons the Dodgers and Yankees clashed for baseball supremacy in the Fall Classic. Polishing off the Dodgers in six games, Casey Stengel piloted the Yankees to their fifth straight World Series title. The Dodgers defeat marked the seventh time Brooklyn had appeared in the Fall Classic and had to endure the fan cries of "wait till next year." Ironically, in a series that featured nine Hall of Famers, scrappy second baseman Billy Martin claimed MVP honors after batting .500 over six games.
