Plot Summary

The hit. The pitch. These mean nothing to baseball fans. But mention "The Catch" and there is no question. Everyone can recall the play: Willie Mays racing back to the deepest part of center field, corralling the ball over his left shoulder, and then spinning and throwing the ball back to the infield. His play kept Game 1 of the 1954 World Series tied, and propelled the Giants to a surprise sweep over the Indians.
