Plot Summary

The 1967 World Series was loaded with star power. The Red Sox sported Triple Crown and MVP winner Carl Yastrzemski and Cy Young winner Jim Lonborg, while the Cardinals boasted future Hall of Famers Bob Gibson, Orlando Cepeda, Roger Maris, Curt Flood, Lou Brock, Tim McCarver, and Steve Carlton. After six hard-fought games, Lonborg and Gibson squared off in Game 7 on short rest. Gibson went the distance, notching his third win of the series and clinching the championship for the Cardinals.
