Plot Summary
During a year in which he posted the third-lowest ERA in the modern era (1.12), Cardinals ace Bob Gibson met his match in the '68 Fall Classic. The Detroit pitching duo of 31-game winner Denny McLain and World Series MVP Mickey Lolich topped St. Louis in seven games, even with Gibson allowing only five earned runs in 3 complete games.
