Plot Summary

When the Oakland Athletics defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to one in the Fall Classic, it marked the first time since the 1951 Yankees that a team had won three straight World Series. The World Series featured a veteran, postseason tested Oakland franchise that was able to put aside clubhouse brawling and fistfights to overpower a talented yet inexperienced Dodgers squad. The LA squad included Steve Garvey, Bill Buckner, Ron Cey, Davey Lopes and Bill Russell.
