Plot Summary
The 1982 edition of the Fall Classic featured two Midwestern cities with distinctive styles and divergent strengths. The St. Louis Cardinals were a squad dependent upon pitching and speed. The Milwaukee Brewers, led by Harvey Kuenn, were affectionately known as “Harvey’s Wallbangers” and were powered by Hall of Famers Paul Molitor and Robin Yount. Pitchers Bob Forsch, Joaquín Andújar and super reliever Bruce Sutter were charged with subduing Harvey’s Wallbangers, a seemingly impossible task after the 10-0 whitewashing in Game 1. The teams split the next four games, which left the Brewers a mere game from capturing the series. However, John Stuper and Andújar overpowered the Brewers and helped the Cards capture Games 6 and 7.
