Plot Summary

Everyone thought that Kirk Gibson was too hurt to play in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. They were wrong. With pain streaking through his legs, Gibson, that season's NL MVP, went up against legendary A's closer Dennis Eckersley in the bottom of the ninth inning, and sent a 3-2 slider deep into the night. His shot lifted the Dodgers to a come-from-behind victory in Game 1 to propel the Dodgers to a championship.
