Plot Summary

They were starving. The fans of Philadelphia - some of the most passionate and loyal fans in the world - had not experienced the thrill of a major sports championship in 25 years. And then along came the 2008 Phillies. Behind the pitching of Cole Hamels, Brad Lidge and ageless wonder Jamie Moyer; the power of Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell and Jayson Werth; the defensive wizardry of Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley; and a cast of unsung heroes - from Geoff Jenkins to Carlos Ruiz - from Shane Victorino to Pedro Feliz - the Phils persevered through the wind and the rain and a 50-hour game to emerge as World Series champions. And in the process, they showered their title-hungry fans with the kind of jubilation they had not experienced in a quarter of a century.
