Plot Summary

It was the matchup many had hoped for - the defending World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies against the team that had won more titles than any team in any sport: the New York Yankees. No team had won more road games than the Phillies. No team had won more home games than the Yankees. But when the final out of the Fall Classic was recorded, it was the team with a Japanese-born hero and the best closer ever that prevailed. And it's all here: Matsui's magic... Alex Rodriguez's postseason resurgence... The Captain's clutchness... Mariano's incredible domination... all culminating with a ticker tape parade before millions in Manhattan. It was in 1923 - their first year in Yankee Stadium - that the Yankees captured their first-ever World Series title.
