Plot Summary
Loretta Castorini (Cher), a 37-year-old widow who still lives at home, falls in love with her timid fiance's (Danny Aiello) estranged brother, Ronny Cammareri (Nicolas Cage), a hot-headed and passionate baker with a love of opera and life. Loretta's mother, Rose (Olympia Dukakis), is a sharp-minded matron trying to understand why men -- her husband in particular -- chase women. And Loretta's wealthy plumber father, Cosmo (Vincent Gardenia), searches for solace from the heartache of growing old. These perplexing problems come to involve the entire family. And each will contribute to their resolution -- a process that begins, quite unexpectedly, when their loyalties and their secrets suddenly collide over breakfast in the kitchen of their Brooklyn brownstone.

Fresh: Norman Jewison's tiramisu-sweet romantic comedy is passionate and profound.
Fresh: John Patrick Shanley's witty, shapely script puts an octet of New Yorkers under a lunar-tuney spell one romantic night. Cher shines brightest of all.
Fresh: Norman Jewison's film is a mostly appetizing blend of comedy and drama carried by snappy dialog and a wonderful ensemble full of familiar faces.
Fresh: An American movie with foreign-film sensibilities, Moonstruck's depths come from their perfect balance of writing and direction.

Ti Amo!
This is a wonderful and charming comedy that is one of my favorite movies. It has humor, romance, wisdom, and so much more. Some of the best wisdom comes from Rose Castorini, Loretta's mother, who tells her daughter that, "When you love them, they drive you crazy, because they know they can." Watch this movie when you need to laugh, to believe in love and family, to escape from a bad day, to enjoy a pleasant evening at home, or just because. It will serve you well.

This movie is so wonderful! The wit, the romance and the young Nicholas Cage. Seriously funny and seriously good. Watch it!!
Brilliant!
One of my all time favorite movies! Cher deserved the Oscar for her performance, and Olympia Dukakis was perfect as her Mother.
A brilliant cast and script beautifully filmed in Brooklyn and NYC. CHER YOU ROCK!
Thank you Norman Jewison for making this jewel of a film!
