Plot Summary

In the tradition of Big Night and Chocolat comes this "delicious romantic comedy!"* that won over 10 international film awards and captured the hearts of moviegoers around the world. Martha is a single woman who lives for one passion: cooking. The head chef at a chic restaurant, Martha has no time for anything - or anyone - else. But, Martha's solitary life is shaken when a fateful accident brings her sister's eight-year-old daughter, Lina, to her doorstep. As Martha struggles to care for her headstrong niece, the restaurant hires a charming and carefree Italian chef named Mario. Suspicious of Mario's intentions, Martha slowly discovers that he has a special recipe for living - one that will touch her home and her heart. With its tantalizing blend of comedy, romance and food, Mostly Martha is a movie to savor. *Leah Rozen, People Magazine

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Nettelbeck has a particularly lovely sense of behind-the-scenes restaurant choreography. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 7, 2011

Fresh: Nettelbeck serves the tastiest film about food and sex since Big Night. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Fresh: Though utterly predictable, this kitchen-set romantic comedy about a severe German woman and a fun-loving Italian cook, has a certain charm, and it's about food, which speaks well for commercial appeal. – Emanuel Levy, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Sweet without being saccharine and funny without being forced. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Jul 16, 2008

Note: SUBTITLED

Lovely film. However, It should not be purchased for an iPod or iPhone if you do not speak German. Simply, the film subtitled and the exceedingly tiny yellow words are much to small to follow for any length of time on the small silver screen. Otherwise sweet story thats a foody gem.

The best movie ever!

This is a fabulous story whether you speak German or not. The remake- No reservations- comes no where close to as good as this. I really wish the lazy americans who feel that subtitles are a burden would chose to expand themselves. It really is a shame that this beatiful movie is not more widely known.

My top 10

I love this movie! It's one of my favorite top 10, I havn't seen the remake (No Reservations), but please beleive me this one is worth watching.
