Plot Summary
During the mid 1980s Howard Marks (Rhys Ifans) had 43 aliases, 89 phone lines and owned 25 companies throughout the world. Whether bars, recording studios or offshore banks, all were money laundering vehicles serving the core activity: dope dealing. At the height of his career he was smuggling consignments of up to 30 tons of marijuana from Pakistan and Thailand to America and Canada and had contact with organizations as diverse as MI6, the CIA, the IRA and the Mafia. This is his story.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: If "Mr. Nice," which was written and directed by Bernard Rose, is steadily watchable, it lopes along without building much tension.
Fresh: Writer-director Bernard Rose lets the picture bop along a little too loosely, but the vibes are good.
Rotten: Ifans looks 20 years too old for the part, and the problem with the movie is it seems so desperate to be made that it barely cares that he spends half of his time miscast.
Rotten: [Ifans] captures the character's charisma and cool, and it's fun to ride shotgun with him. But the script isn't pointed enough to drill beneath the surface.

As far as biopics go, it could have been FAR worse, the film looks great and the cast is having fun. Totally welcome vintage vibes, really enjoyed it :)
