Plot Summary

Chill out with the funniest family comedy of the year! Jim Carrey stars as Tom Popper, a successful businessman who’s clueless when it comes to the really important things in life...until he inherits six “adorable” penguins, each with its own unique personality. Soon Tom’s rambunctious roommates turn his swank New York apartment into a snowy winter wonderland — and the rest of his world upside-down.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The director, Mark Waters, moves things briskly along and lets the charming absurdity of penguin behavior rise to its inherently good-natured heights. – Bruce Diones, New Yorker, Jun 27, 2011

Rotten: Why is Jim Carrey standing around watching penguins be funny? Why isn't he in a movie where Jim Carrey is funny? – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 17, 2011

Rotten: [Carrey's] always "on," even when the character is supposed to be off; by the end of the movie, there isn't a piece of scenery that doesn't bear his teethmarks. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Jun 17, 2011

Fresh: The best thing about Mr Popper's Penguins is that it makes no discernible sense. – Daily Telegraph, Aug 4, 2011

A movie for all

I thought this movie was great.. It was cute and funny.. A movie for all ages..

Solid feel good family movie, worth a watch

This is one of those formula movies, but done well. Jim Carey does a nice job. In this movie, he throttles it back a bit from his usual vulgar self (think Pet Detective), and comes across pretty genuine as he has done in other movies.

I'm not sure why this movie was panned by some of the critics, but maybe thats why I liked it. Walked in with realistic expectations. Great feel good ending, and well done. Pleasant surprise. That and penguins are cool.

Surpassed my expectations

I didn't think I'd enjoy this one because I havent seen Jim Carrey in a hit comedy Ina while and it's a kids movie (I know him better as a crazier PG-13 kinda guy) but this was a typical Jim Carrey film he was his hilarious self in this one. Goofy Ina good way
