Plot Summary

American independent film icon Abel Ferrara’s (Bad Lieutenant, King of New York) 1981 revenge thriller classic Ms. 45 follows a mute garment-district seamstress–played by the late model/actress/musician/screenwriter Zoë Lund–who after falling victim to multiple unspeakable assaults, ignites her one-woman homicidal rampage against New York City’s entire male population. Combining the rabid angst of 1976’s Death Wish and Roman Polanski’s surreal, post-traumatic Repulsion, Ms. 45 rages from the cult underground over 30 years later to reclaim its title as perhaps the most shocking, complex and empowering revenge film of the 1980s arrives fully restored and presented for the first time ever in HD.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: By keeping the picture short and busy, Ferrara makes its far-fetched elements play. – Variety Staff, Variety, Dec 9, 2013

Fresh: The sexual politics of Ms. 45 are blunt and easy to read, and the picture is riotously cathartic. – Stephanie Zacharek, Village Voice, Dec 10, 2013

Fresh: With Grand Guignol relish, Ferrara depicts a city in the throes of a Wild West lawlessness that invites vigilante action. – Richard Brody, New Yorker, Feb 3, 2014

Fresh: Had Herzog seen it, he might have recognized Ferrara as a fellow genius, and one as weird as himself. – Peter Keough, Boston Globe, Jan 23, 2014

1980 nyu thesis film

Do Not waste your money as I did. Should have been 2.99 for it is a 34 year old movie. Not a good enough terrible “ camp “ movie, not interesting as a prequel to Mr Ferraras work. Whoever compared this to werner herzog is on the take. If you rent this stick your finger in between your lips and hmmm while moving your finger up and down. You deserve it, as I did. We all make mistakes.

Classic!

WOW!! I am so excited to see this. I've told many people about it because it's a movies that I watched as a kid and it really stuck with me. When I would describe it, people wouldn't believe me. A nun shooting people, cutting them into pieces, and placing their body parts in various dumpsters around town. Awesome.

Worthless s*it.

God oh , God. This has to be one of the "Top 10" WORST movies ever made. Worthless , bad acting , bad story , bad filming , bad “cinematography” and the most annoying broad that has ever "acted" in a movie. Amateur , Amateur , Amateur… Do not waste you hard earned dollar on this piece of trash. FOUR fresh tomatoes? What are you guys at “RottenTomatoes” insane or you are just stupid nazis feminists enjoying this kind of trash. I bet that if the genders were reversed , even if the actual movie was 100 times better you wouldn’t have given that movie even ONE fresh tomato. You have credibility ZERO.
