My Life as a Dog (Mitt liv som hund) tells the story of Ingemar, a twelve-year-old from a working-class family sent to live with his uncle in a country village when his mother falls ill. There, with the help of the warmhearted eccentrics who populate the town, the boy finds both refuge from his misfortunes and unexpected adventure. Featuring an incredibly mature and unaffected performance by the young Anton Glanzelius, this film is a beloved and bittersweet evocation of the struggles and joys of childhood from Oscar-nominated director Lasse Hallström.

Sweet Coming of Age Tale
My favorite movie ever. First saw it as a teenager & loved it. Loved the insight into a different culture & a child's world.
Bitter Sweet Nostalgic Story
On par with Federico Fellini "Amarcord".
A beautiful gem
Lasse Hallstrom’s film is a beautiful and heartfelt gem about the trials of growing up in a turbulent times. How does one cope with poverty and an emotionally unstable single mother who is loving one moment, then so full of rage? Young Ingemar ( an impossibly cute Anton Glanzelius) navigates these tough times with the help of an active imagination and loving relatives. This film stayed with me from my youth and it still ranks as one of my all time favorites.
