I were Still this young
I first saw this film on the big screen in 1969 and it changed the way I thought about myself as a 12 year old. Inspiring and simple, it is a timeless film about coming of age and adventure that every boy goes through. Good Family Film !
Great Book! Mediocre Movie.
My favorite book as a child. I read and re-read it many times. I was teaching this book to my 5th grade class a few years ago and on a whim, got online to see if there was a movie adaptation. To my surprise, there was and it had been around a long time. I bought at copy and was disappointed by this version of a great story. The basic plot was left intact, but trying to incorporate songs just didn't work for me at all.
Theodore Bikel was miscast in this one. I wish for an updated version of this movie. Done with better casting, better acting, and more faithfulness to the book.
Great Movie
I saw this movie in 1969 when I was 15. It solidified my already strong feelings about the wonder of nature.
