Plot Summary
In this wickedly charming tale, Emma Thompson portrays a mysterious woman with special powers who enters the household of the recently widowed Mr. Brown (Colin Firth) and attempts to tame his seven children. The children have managed to drive away 17 previous nannies, but as Nanny McPhee takes control, they begin to notice that their misbehaving has magical and startling consequences. "A magical, fantastic and wonderful fable that will capture the heart of the whole family!" (Maria Salas, NBC-TV)

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: There's nothing offhand or spontaneous-feeling about Nanny McPhee; it's a highly mechanical piece of work, and its potentially delightful details are wasted.
Fresh: In a seemingly blithe way, the movie captures an aspect of child consciousness not usually explored onscreen -- that zone between innocence and knowledge.
Fresh: Any time Thompson curls that prosthetic snaggletooth over her lower lip and murmurs a nearly inaudible harrumph is a comic moment to be treasured.
Fresh: The kids will love the candy-box sets and costumes like confectionery-shop windows, the whimsy and farcical grotesqueness of it all.

Oh My Gosh
I know that this is on the same plot as Marry Poppins but modern day. However this is in a class all by itself. I throughly enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it for those looking for a feel good genuine movie.
WOW!
I highly recommend the movie to anyone who wants a little joy, fantasy, and magic all in one movie, and that's nanny mcphee. Its not just kids who like adventure & fantasy. There's no age limit to see this movie, but to just enjoy the charming tale that will capture the whole family into a world of wit and glamour.
Yay Nanny Mcphee!!
My favorite line from the movie is when Nanny McPhee says "when you need me but don't want me is when i'll stay, but when you want me but don't need me, then i must go away." i thought it was really interesting and loved the ending. My all time favorite characters are the baby and of course nanny mcphee. 999,999,999,999,999,999,999 stars all the way around. And yes i know that that is a lot of stars.
I see no connection to marry poppins except with the children father relationship in this movie. The only movie better than this is matilda in my opinion.
