Plot Summary
Jake (Faris), full of anger after his father's death, is just starting to find a place for himself at his new Orlando high school - until Ryan (Giagandet), head of an underground MMA fight club, picks Jake out as a prime opponent. After being trounced by Ryan in front of the entire school, Jake begins training under the firm, moral guidance of a MMA master (Hounsou), where he learns how to fight...and how to avoid a fight. But it becomes obvious that a rematch will be inevitable if Jake wants to stop Ryan and his bullying, once and for all.

Rotten: Never Back Down offers extreme fighting as the modern-day alternative to sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.
Rotten: Movie is dopey. And with its emphasis on stupid violence, xylophone abs, and getting yourself on YouTube, it's yet another product that makes you feel bad about today's youth culture.
Rotten: It's a little Karate Kid, a smidge of Fight Club...a lot of The O.C. (evil boy Gigandet played an evil boy on that series), and presto: probable hit.
Rotten: The fights are parceled out at intervals during the last half, all leading to a climactic battle. But it's hard to build suspense when you know it is coming and you know who will win.

Never Back Down
"I'm gonna stop this guy, win, lose... it makes no difference, it ends tonight. This is my fight. Everyone's got one..." - Jake Tyler [Never Back Down] : I think that this is an amazing movie, it shows the reason some people fight, maybe it doesn't effect some people, but it changed the way I think about fighting. You can fight everyone at school, work, etc. But it won't help anyone, fighting is what I love to do, but I don't just fight someone if they make me mad, you know when your supposed to fight, it's a feeling you have, this movie gives me that incredible feeling. Best movie made, no doubt about it!
AMAZING!
Although my first pick on a movie would be a fighting one, I watched it. And I have to admit I was surprised; it was a really good movie. The plot though is a little bit iffy though. I don't like the fact that the new kid comes to town and is a huge hit and over-night popular in school via youtube. But the actors, expecially Cam Gigandet, are for one extremely hot, and very talented. It should be available for rent though I'm not going to lie that's a down fall. Don't pass this movie up though, watch it! Never give up, never back down. It's now a motto for me.
