Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: DMX isn't up to the acting needed to play an epic anti-hero, but then director/ex-cinematographer Ernest Dickerson never makes Never very epic on any level. – Mike Clark, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A flashy but ultimately routine saga of gangsta criminality and payback. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

Rotten: Never Die Alone is the first of Goines' ultragritty novels has made it to the big screen. If this is the best his words can inspire, it should also be the last. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A violent, would-be film noir that strains with limited success for tragic resonance and gritty authenticity. – Jonathan Foreman, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010

You Buy the Nachos, this movie provides the cheese!

This movie had so much cheese in it, they could put Kraft out of business- then again, i should have known when I saw David arquette listed;that guy couldn't act to save his momma's life and his "career" flopped big time--just like this corny flic! After seeing this flic, I think I would like to "DIE ALONE!" (of shame).

A Letter to Mr. Ernest R Dickerson / Highly Recommend this film

First I'll like to say that I saw this film when it came out in Theatres and I was fairly impressed. Ridley Scott used this as a blue print for American Gangster, even though he would never say that out loud. I have to commend Ernest Dickerson for making grade z actors seem lkke grade D, and for trying his best to explore a story with lots of holes. It's not by far the best film of this nature that I've seen, but it was a great attempt. Ernest R Dickerson needs to get a better script, and he will return with avengence!

Thought it was just another ghetto-fied movie, but...

…..ok, it kinda was. Dude squeezed the last bit of talent that was left over from that music video called Belly and threw it full force in here. Kept my interest. Good job, D.
