So Romantic
What a beautiful and wonderful film. After viewing it, I had to just sit down and take it all in. The feeling the film left me with was one I had not felt in years. Great movie!
It's good but distressing.
I went into this expecting something a bit different (given the synopsis). Past lovers that reunited while trying to sort their lives after Katrina and help their respective communities. Love re-blossoming.
What you get is two very damaged characters that had been in, what all evidence points to, as a rocky and toxic relationship. Jekyll (Eccleston) sees Hyde - just sees her- and the impression is given that his efforts to right his life are now going to pot. He's got a singular goal - get Hyde back by his side. While romantic in a general way - it isn't in this context.
Old, toxic habits re-emerge and their lives crumble around them. They do nothing to stop it.
I suppose that could be romantic but really it's just unnerving and distressing to me. The acting by Moss and Eccleston is superb. They portray the flaws of their characters excellently.
