Plot Summary

It's a new night for terror - and a new dawn in horror movie-making when special-effects genius Tom Savini (creator of the spectacularly gruesome make-up in Friday the 13th and Creepshow) brings modern technology to this colorful remake of George A. Romero's 1968 cult classic. Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies - awakened from death by the return of a radioactive space probe - wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the 90s: graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!

Updated Classic

This was the first zombie movie I ever saw... then I went back and watched all the Romero movies, all the remakes of the Romero movies, and all the zombie movies in between. Basically every zombie movie ever. This one is pretty good... it has all the suspense and "world coming to an end - but not really cause everything is the same except for the zombies" feel of the Romero movies with much more urgency then Dawn of the Dead or Day of the Dead - and the remake has an updated ending from the original, that I found much more satisfying plot wise (if less of the social commentary than Romero usually puts into his films). Keep in mind too, that Romero was brought back to re-write the script... All in all one of my favorites - even though there are better zombie movies out there.

To Keep it Simple...

Romero's original Night of the Living Dead is a monument to the horror genre and is possibly the best of his work. This remake is a shame and cloaks the true originality of the first. It has nothing to say about the (back then's) time, whereas Romero's allegory -- along with the original Dawn of the Dead still hold up to those that actually "see" their meaning. Don't buy or rent this.

A great movie! I'm so glad that iTunes has this movie! I always loved the original, and the remasterd version is even better!
