Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: All of it is standard stuff, and yet Nighthawks has been assembled with enough pep to make it feel fresh. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 25, 2010

Fresh: Though there's never much doubt how the duel will end, the climax is nonetheless surprising and totally satisfying, topping the energy of the previous pursuit. – Variety Staff, Variety, Jul 25, 2010

Rotten: A terrorist hijacking a cable car, even in New York, is a mildly ludicrous idea -- were no 747s handy? The plot of Nighthawks makes no sense. – Time Out, Jul 25, 2010

Fresh: While the plotting is familiar (especially after countless imitations), competent scripting, direction and acting make this above average entertainment. – Film4, Jul 25, 2010

Wolf guard?

We sneaked in to see this movie as kids. I remember being very confused by Stallone's use of the "English"language. I didn't understand a word of it and thought people in NY spoke a different dialect. Specially when he screams wolf.....something in the disco scene. No wonder the terrorist doesn't stop. He didn't know what Stallone was saying either. I guess you can say this movie was ahead of its time since it dealt with terrorists before back in the day but its still a very bad movie. Very seedy looking, kind like NY in the eighties.
