I really love this little flick. Great characters. Stewart is an eccentric engineer, a widower, with a strange daughter that he's raising to think that math problem solving is the most fun a kid can have. The actress playing the little girl is wonderful. Planes called Reindeers have been literally falling out of the sky, and no one can figure out why. Stewart has come up with a new theory of metal fatigue that he believes is the answer. In a series of events not nearly as improbable as it sounds, he ends up on one while doiing his investigation, and believes it's going to crash. Great to see him with Dietrich again, from Destry Rides Again, and both Jack Hawkins and Glynis Johns are, as usual, the best support you could have. Really worth a viewing. Makes it more chilling to know a bit of aviation history, and that all this is based on the real case of a British plane called the Comet.
