Plot Summary

"Norman Puckle is in despair: his love for a haughty cinema attendant has been spurned. After trying to commit suicide, he is rescued and persuaded to join the navy. There he continuously causes havoc, until he is hand-picked by the Admiral as the first man to be sent into space aboard their new craft.
