Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Despite its deliberate austerity, Not One Less is extraordinarily rich.
Fresh: This film may seem slow, and its concerns distant to many American viewers. But Not One Less is a movie whose humanity is irresistibly, even joyfully, accessible.
Fresh: With Not One Less, Zhang Yimou has fashioned what feels like an uncannily accurate portrait of a culture where Communist ideology has vanished like a brief dream, as traditional community values clash with the burgeoning cult of money.
Fresh: It's an excellent movie for kids, because it is about how amazing children can be.

Worth Seeing
If you are looking for martial arts and beautifully choreographed scenes, this is not your movie. However, if you are looking for a good story with a much more realistic view of modern China, this is a movie worth watching. The story is about a 13 year old girl who becomes a substitute teacher at a rural Chinese school and takes the departing words of the actual teacher to heart.
looks good, but....
why is this under the comedy section- i certainly dont see anything funny in it! it's a moving piece of motion picture art!
Heart Warming Story
This movie is subtitled---decent job, just so you know. Good story watching a young person evolve from a materialistic approach to a compassionate human being. Its ironic that this story filmed in the year 2000 China is now close to representing 2012 USA. Worth the rent.
