Denver must in turn prove it to his disbelieving family as well as the rest of the world in this wonderfully delightful family classic. Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: An uneasy amalgam or inconsistent attitudes, without enough humor or zaniness to divert attention from its questionable premise. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: Carl Reiner's Oh, God! is a treasure of a movie: A sly, civilized, quietly funny speculation on what might happen if God endeavored to present himself in the flesh yet once again to forgetful Man. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Underrated!

This movie is so warm and heart felt and cute and fun! It provides a comforting message to life. Watch it, you will feel so good. The court room at the end has the best quote. It makes you believe in your dreams and a better way. "No matter how hopeless, helpless, mixed up and scary it all gets... It can work." :)

Diva Lover

Great film, but I never understood why Donald Pleasance got such a high billing in the credits since he appears in only a couple of scenes as a rather minor character.

A fun, quiet movie

Oh, God! is the kind of enjoyable film that doesn't dominate the Top Ten lists, but is a cozy little pleasure you indulge in from time to time. The main attraction here is George Burns, whose affable persona and friendly demeanor makes you wish he really WAS God. The movie itself is similarly inoffensive, raising some affirmative ideas on the nature of man and the divinity while going out of its way to avoid offending anyone.

If there is one big flaw in the movie, it's that the first two-thirds of it putters at a very casual pace, focusing a bit too much on John Denver's struggles than anything else. But the reward for your patience comes in the last act, a memorable conclusion which reaffirms the promise that things CAN work out if everyone puts a little faith in each other...
