Plot Summary

Tricked into joining the RAF, wide boy Horace Pope sets his sights on the main chance, teams with a slow-witted gypsy, Pedlar Pascoe, and works up a lucrative racket in conning his colleagues and the RAF. By devious methods they manage to dodge the fighting war until they are sent to France, where they make accidental contact with the enemy and end up as much-decorated heroes.
