Plot Summary
A delightfully fun romp about crime, love and David Lee Roth. On the Road with Judas is a film based on a real novel, written by a writer, played by an actor, about the real characters and the actors playing those characters in this story. Meet novelist JJ Lask, living in two different worlds that both exist within his mind. As he struggles to write his book, the inside of his mind is revealed as he deconstructs his characters into two parts, the "Real" and their alter ego, the "Actor." His main character, Judas, is also a man living a double life. On one hand Judas is a successful entrepreneur living in New York City. On the other hand, he is a criminal who takes anything he wants. Yet when Judas meets a woman who becomes the one thing he cannot take, he faces more than he can handle, and JJ discovers the perfect ending for his story!

Startlingly Original!
I first saw this film at Sundance and I loved it, but on a second viewing it has grown on me even more. What JJ Lask has done is reinvent the romantic comedy. Nothing you have seen before is quite like this, and in the end it's not just entertaining, but it has a lot to say about the nature of reality, truth, and love.
far and away one of the best movie i've ever seen
This is the kind've movie that reminds me why I love movies. Endlessly inventive, but ultimately entertaining. It played Sundance I think last year and its crazy. It's like a not-at-all creepy David Lynch film in a way, which in itself is very hard to explain. But you have a writer of an autobiographical book, and the book is being adapted into a movie. The film follows the author, the actor playing the author, the filmmaker making the movie, and also the author of the REAL book/actual director of the movie, JJ Lask. Get it? Exactly. The good news is, Lask, the filmmaker, spends his weekdays cutting some of the worlds most clever commercials, and it's through his masterful editing that an incredibly complex idea becomes a throroughly enjoyable ride. That said, if you think Charlie Kaufman is meta, then you haven't even scratched the surface of On The Road With Judas. I'm tellin ya it's a real fun headtrip of a movie - it's kind of like the movie version of a really hard sudoku problem, but really rewarding when it all comes together. And unlike a lot of other films that are about themselves - it never sacrifices human emotion for the sake of it's cleverness. At it's very core is an honest love story, that is very well drawn. If nothing else, this movie has the timeless appeal of a classic con-man story. The two kleptomaniac main characters are excellent in their extra-curricular pursuits of collegiate artifacts ranging from faculty Apple computers to rare art pieces adorning scholastic hallways…They are hilariously casual in their thievery! The best part is that this is precisely the type of movie that you'd download on a whim and then fall in love with. A perfect champion of the digital age. Check this flick out - I promise you'll be glad you did.
All Day Buffet is right!
Buffet of excellence in movie making perhaps. I saw this film in Columbia, MO and I honestly have to say that it's one of the most innovative independent films to come out in the past few years. It's a beautifully crafted narrative that is overflowing with young talent. It seems like a really complex, trying-too-hard independent film, but it couldn't be further from that. It's actually a fun-loving hip comedy for the most part, with a solid love story going under the current. It's reassuring that movies like this are still made. Movies that are this brave and unflinching in their vision are few and far between so you better see this while it's out since it will be a while until another movie like this comes out.
