Plot Summary
Winner of the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Once Upon A Time In Anatolia is the new film from the celebrated director of Distant and Climates. In the dead of night, a group of men – among them, a police commissioner, a prosecutor, a doctor and a murder suspect – drive through the Anatolian countryside, the serpentine roads and rolling hills lit only by the headlights of their cars. They are searching for a corpse, the victim of a brutal murder. The suspect, who claims he was drunk, can’t remember where he buried the body. As night wears on, details about the murder emerge and the investigators’ own hidden secrets come to light. In the Anatolian steppes, nothing is what it seems; and when the body is found, the real questions begin.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A police procedural as existential inquiry, set in a remote dreamscape of mystery and foreboding.
Fresh: It runs 157 minutes, and I can't say you don't feel them. You do - but in the way you would, reading a very good book in an uncomfortable chair.
Fresh: A movie of such dark, smoldering intensity that it's easy to forget that half of it takes place in near darkness.
Fresh: Ceylan doesn't slap us with big dramatic moments, but allows us to live along with his characters as things occur to them.

wow
out of mind… this movie made me think a lot… a must see it…
Once upon a time in Anatolia
Great depiction of life in a remote Turkish town. Cinematography was great as was acting - But the movie was extremely slow, and never came to any climax... Not even at the end.
Unconventional Movie
This is a movie that seems to develop very slowly but makes you think about the movie for days on end afterwards. The characters are extremely intriguing and the entire plot makes you understand the flaws of each character wowen in what seems like a rather simple plot. But simple is not what this plot or the movie is and it will make you wonder about each character for days or weeks after you watch the movie. Not for those who want fast action and easy answers fed to them by the director and screen writer.
