Rotten: The cumbersome, fantastical plot twists of its last 40 minutes render the whole thing unfathomable. – Peter Stack, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 8, 2007

Fresh: While it will not get the kind of wide release necessary to make a big splash in this country, those who see it will not quickly forget the experience. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jun 10, 2008

Good one.

Just wanted to note that this has Spanish dialogue with English subtitles. (Which wasn't at all clear from the description.)

Abre los ojos

Or better yet, Open Your Mind. This film was in Spanish, not English. Ruined, again (as they did with 'Let the Right One In'). What is it with iTunes and dubbing foreign language films? Prejudice against languages other then English? Find a proper film aficionado to run the Movie department.

The Movie is brilliant (and Vanilla Sky, the REMAKE, was just ok, but WHY remake this? Oh yeah, because Americans can't handle watching foreign language films and reading subtitles). But dubbing it is a travesty? The film (sound) loses all the emotional nuances of the actors. What makes it what it is. Dubbing English spoken by other actors is like merging two entirely different films together. It's just not right. Dubbing should be illegal.

Truly original

This movie is amazing, sit back and let it take you places. The plot is intriguing and the acting great. I love spaniards creativity, it was ruined in Vanilla Sky by hollywood trying to make it fit in box-office parameters. Get this movie if you love creative/smart/well made movies. Reading the subtitles is totally worth it!
