Plot Summary

Our Man Flint takes the tongue-in-cheek wit of the James Bond series and shifts it into high gear. Flint is an ultra-sophisticated operative of international intelligence agency Z.O.W.I.E. He's a master of martial arts, electronic gadgetry (his cigarette lighter can perform 83 special functions), languages both human and animal (he can communicate with dolphins in a pinch), and even gives ballet lessons to the dancers of the Bolshoi. So when his fellow agents begin dropping like flies, Z.O.W.I.E assigns Flint the task of finding out who the killers happen to be. Eventually, Flint discovers that the killings are all part of the wicked machinations of G.A.L.A.X.Y., a cadre of world-wide villainy that plans to take over the world through weather control.

Ringtone

Why can't we get the classic ringtone from this movie!? I loved the ringtone used when he would get a call.

A Classic For My Father's Time...

My late father loved this character and this movie. Sophisticated and sexy (for 1965). James Coburn was one of my father's favorite actors, behind only Steve McQueen.

Knew It By Heart!

A classy spoof of the James Bond flicks, much more sophisticated than Dean Martin's Matt Helm (tho I enjoy them, too). I actually set up a reel-to-reel tape player next to the television set back in the early 70's to get an audio of these two movies, which I then played back over and over and over... the dialogue is tongue-in-cheek witty, the plotline simplistic and fun. James Coburn as Derek Flint was the man of my pre-teen dreams! I mean, come on -- a man who speaks to dolphins, knows enough about women to not compete with them and can dance as skillfully as both Estaire and Nureyev? And the soundtracks aren't bad either for a retro experience. I have the DVDs, of course, but love the concept of a clean, commercial copy on my iPod -- and maybe iTunes will consider offering the original; In Like Flint!
