Plot Summary
Charlyne Yi does not believe in love. Or so she says. Well, at the very least, she doesn’t believe in fairy-tale love or the Hollywood mythology of love, and her own experiences have turned her into yet another modern-day skeptic. Charlyne and her friend (and director) Nicholas embark on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t understand: Love. Determined to find out if love truly exists, Charlyne talks with friends and strangers, scientists, bikers, romance novelists, and children. Then, shortly after filming begins, Charlyne meets a boy after her own heart: Michael Cera. As their relationship develops on camera, her pursuit to discover the nature of love takes on a fresh new urgency. Combining elements of storytelling, reality and fantasy, Paper Heart brings a fresh perspective to the modern romance and redefines the classic love story.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: [An] unbearably twee mockumentary about the meaning of love.
Fresh: Paper Heart gets by on easygoing charm, rather like Yi herself, whose low-fi comedy is built upon us rooting for her, perhaps hoping that surely there's more magnetism to her than this.
Fresh: Paper Heart doesn't unearth the meaning of 'love' (spoiler alert?) but it at least shows us how real human beings deal with all those confusing emotions that might equal something close to it.
Rotten: Ultimately, one doubts that even the parts that seemed real are real, and the entire house-of-cards comes tumbling down.

paper heart
this movie was the cutest thing i personaly ever watched.
Heart felt
I really enjoyed this film. It was peaceful, funny, loving and almost relaxing to watch; a break from all the big Hollywood productions. I appreciated the mosaic of people she interviewed on love and the film almost made me feel optimistic about love. Quietly fun film sweet on love...
Surprisingly Good
I wasn't so sure about seeing this movie since I'm not a fan of either Cera or Yi. I decided to see it since I found the concept of the movie interesting. The movie was suprisingly endearing and well done. I like the way various emotions and opinions were treated.
