Great Feature! Great Narrative! Great Actors!

It didn't have explosions, it didn't have pretentious young actors, it didn't have twists but it did have 2 great lead actors. Emma Stone is one of my favorites if not my favorite at the moment. She's not famous for being famous and she does in fact have real talent - probably why she doesn't appeal to some people.

I found the movie moving. I would describe it as a cross between Lost in Translation and The Spifire Grill.

Worth Renting

This movie is about Richard, the main character's, walking through life; continuously being upstaged by his very successful wife, and not knowing how to find his own place in life - not his life or anyone else's life. He ends up having a country home rented for him by his wife so that she can do her work in close-by NYC - only coming home on the weekends. With his time he attempts to write a novel, but cannot find it in his mind - or with his imaginary friend - how to start even the first sentence. Bored immediately, he takes a bike into town and is immediately taken by Emma Stone's character. Both of them have very complex issues that they can't put into words - so it's in their actions that they become very close and dear friends. The acting was good, but I felt like everyone played their parts a bit too coldly - even when trying to be warm, making for an uncomfortable feeling throughout the entire movie. Ryan Reynolds was - and looked - fabulous, and really brought a needed element to the movie. Throughout the movie, however, I was really put-off by his costume (not that he didn't look great in it, but its colors were so sharp against the bleary backdrop of the movie.) All in all I am glad I saw this movie, but I am also glad that I chose to rent it rather than buy it...I don't think I would watch it twice.
