Plot Summary

Klapisch makes fiction films that are better than most documentaries at tracking the ravages and felicities of urban renewal, the connections between people and their neighborhoods, the ties that both bind and torment families. With PARIS he does all of that and then some. “Pulses with a contemporary version of the energy that animated Balzac's novels, or Colette's accounts of the life she observed from the window of her apartment in the Palais Royal”- Morgenstern, WALL STREET JOURNAL. “****! An all-star cast made up of some of the brightest talents in France. Juliette Binoche continues to be a marvel” - LaSalle, SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE. “Klapisch captures both the picture-postcard ideal of the city and the candid truth behind it, managing to enhance both images…a funny, sad, romantic and deeply felt love letter to a great city. If you can't book a trip now, it's the next best thing.” - Hornaday, WASHINGTON POST. From IFC Films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Although Paris makes gestures toward being a top-to-bottom examination of the city's social fabric, its perspective is solidly middle class. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Sep 18, 2009

Fresh: The French director Cedric Klapisch is a glib wizard at weaving folks together, but there are too many secondhand characters roving through Paris, his latest ensemble piece. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Auds who like upmarket soap opera, sightseeing and Gallic films where people talk a lot about their relationships will be consistently entertained. – Leslie Felperin, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: At a 124-minute runtime, though, the writer-director has stretched a wide canvas, and only sporadically found anything worth filling it with. – Nick Pinkerton, Village Voice, Sep 22, 2009

Loved It.

Another great film by Director Klapisch. All star cast glows in this story of truth behind that lovely postcard. Fun, sad, romantic and worthy of seeing.
