Plot Summary

"The New York club scene of the 80s and 90s was a world like no other. Into this candy-colored, mirror ball playground stepped Michael Alig, a wannabe from nowhere special. Under the watchful eye of veteran club kid James St. James, Alig quickly rose to the top... and there was no place to go but down. Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green with Gloe Sevigny, Natasha Lyonne, Marilyn Manson and Dylan McDermott in this tale of drugs, excess and murder. It's the wildest true story ever told! "

Rotten: It takes some doing to make a potentially epic cultural moment seem smaller than life, but Bailey and Barbato have pulled it off. – Ty Burr, Boston Globe, Sep 21, 2003

Rotten: Never goes deeper than what you might get out of Dr. Phil on a bad day. – Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The wanton fabulistas of Party Monster are as boring and insignificant as the very 'normals and drearies' they so contemptuously deride. – Ann Hornaday, Washington Post, Jun 24, 2010
