Plot Summary

After a plane crash, a young therapist, Claire (Anne Hathaway), is assigned by her mentor (Andre Braugher) to counsel the flight's five survivors. When they share their recollections of the incident -- which some say include an explosion that the airline claims never happened -- Claire is intrigued by Eric (Patrick Wilson), the most secretive of the passengers. Just as Claire's professional relationship with Eric -- despite her better judgment -- blossoms into a romance, the survivors begin to disappear mysteriously, one by one. Claire suspects that Eric may hold all the answers and becomes determined to uncover the truth, no matter the consequences.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Passengers is a supernatural thriller so mechanically inept and lacking in suspense that it doesn't even pass muster as lowbrow Halloween-ready entertainment. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: The actors make a noble effort, but Passengers turns out to be just another dud in the genre of revisionist mysteries that have been messing with our heads since Haley Joel Osment saw dead people. – Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: This middlebrow tone poem aims for ambiguity but often veers into soporific, suspending answers (and often, viewer interest) en route to an ending that explains all. – Justin Chang, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: It's a long ride to a familiar destination. – Michael Ordona, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

This was such a great movie! Totally unexpected. I don't really know how to describe it but it really got to me. Highly recommend it.

Great Movie

This is a great movie that a lot of people are ripping apart. Its incredibly thought provoking and uses more imagination then most movies.....if the watcher gives it a chance.....This movie does require that you watch it intently. I follow Anne Hathaway very closely and this is another example of her great acting. Patrick Wilson does a very good job too. This movie may need a chance at first (rent before you buy) but at least give it a good chance.

Not worth it.

I made the mistake of paying to see this movie... I mean I guess it's alright, until you get to the end... Which I guess I shouldn't talk about here, but honestly it's one of those endings where you're like "Seriously?" I mean if you really did like the movie you should get it but DEFINITELY not Anne Hathaway's best work.
