Fresh: While "Passione" praises the spirit of its subjects, it also attends to the discipline and tenacity that makes them worth noticing.
Fresh: Pic's pleasant collage of reportage and musical perfs features locally renowned recording artists adding their contempo spin to classic Neapolitan songs, often while acting out mini melodramas at the same time in real locations.
Fresh: A beautifully structured and photographed film, John Turturro's rapturous "Passione" offers a vibrant exploration and celebration of Neapolitan music in all its grit and glory...
Fresh: [A] ironic, flamboyant and sentimental anthology of the divergent and colliding musical styles of Naples...

A Stunning Vision
I had never seen John Turturro's previous directorial projects but I was familiar with his acting in "The Big Lebowski," "Secret Window" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" in which he does a fantastic job. I was absolutely blown away by his latest film "Passione" where he takes audiences through the music and culture of his heritage in Italy. This film is a fun time and the dance sequences are incredible. You can feel Turturro's closeness to "Passione" and his passion for sharing these traditions of his culture with audiences. I highly recommend "Passione" to anyone interested in music, Italian culture, John Turturro or independent film. This is classic Turturro and truly a musical adventure.
Magnifico
I can not find the words to describe this magnificent cultural/musical journey of Napoli. I highly recommended to watch this film, it helps to understand a way of life that you will only find in Napoli and southern Italy. If you like music that possesses meaningful and deep meaning, this documentary will bring tears to your eyes of course as long as you can understand the Neapolitan dialect.
Doesn't make me want to go to Naples
I cannot begin to understand the enthusiastic support for this film. The staging of the music performances was, for the most part, laughable - like bad 80's music vids. It was very poorly organized, jumping between styles and eras with no discernible rationale. And some of the performances were so awful I couldn't wait for them to end. I was hoping to see more of the music of the streets the city is famous for, but nothing doing. I give it one star for the few good performances and the scenery.
