Plot Summary

The critically-acclaimed comedian, actor, writer, and voice of Remy the Rat (the Oscar-winning Ratatouille) takes time out from his many film and television outings to return to the comedy stage for his fourth stand-up special. His unique blend of acerbity and bemusement is aimed at both hot-button issues (religion, politics) and the mundane (air travel, grocery stores) and the results are always highly entertaining. With My Weakness Is Strong, taped for Comedy Central in 2009, the veteran headliner of comedy clubs across the U.S. takes on the horrors of home birthing, his impending fatherhood, rodent infestation, and - not to be missed - an especially hilarious encounter with the elusive Hollywood Hills F***squatch.

My Weakness Is Strong

I thought the new patton oswalt special was really funny and there is bonus material not shown on tv. The reason i gave it four stars is because i thought is other special (No Reason to Complain) was a little funnier and it costs $2. I think you should buy the video because you can watch it witch i think is more entertaining. I definately reccomend to anyone looking for a good laugh.

Patton at the top of his game.

I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for this show (that's my head turning in the first couple minutes!) and have been a big Patton Oswalt fan for years. Patton has always had this quality of delivering his jokes in more of a story-telling fashion; but this performance in particular felt like I was just hanging out with a brilliantly funny friend who has some of the best stories to tell and insightful observations to share. I felt the production was well done and the pacing and editing retained the feeling of the original show. My one observation (not a criticism nor a negative) is that I wish this had come out a little earlier. This is because at the actual show Patton's comments on Obama and Bush managed to tap into an energy in the crowd that was just waiting to burst out. This is largely because it was taped in a college auditorium only 5 blocks from the White House only 5 weeks after the inauguration. DC is an energetic place after any inauguration, but this one was special and the people were still feeling engaged and enthusiastic about it. Watching it six months later that energy almost seems out of place for a "new release." I actually had to remind myself, "oh yeah, that was when we were all so excited about the future...." That's not to say Patton is any less brilliant in what he said! It's just my personal observation having been there.

Patton, the awesome comedian, not the egotistical general.

Great stuff, Patton Oswalt at his best. I was at this concert, it was filmed in Washington DC, at GWU. I was kinda hoping to apear in one of the screen shots of the audience laughing, because I am that kind of a dork. But anyways, Patton is in top form, his keen insights, and sub references are always right on the money.
Personally, the funniest parts, and most ironic, in my not so humble opinion, are all the political rhetoric that Patton spews [for those who do not know, Patton is an unabashed left winger, who wholeheartedly supported Obama.]
While this is fine, and he is entitled to his opinions, and when this concert took place, many people believed that Obama was a miracle worker who would fix this country, our economy, etc, etc, ad nauseum...
Cut to 3 years later and everything is worse, or certainly not better, then rewatching this movie, and seeing him using his fame and keen wit as a launching platform for additional support for the Obama administration, all his predictions (yes, of course I realize that the anti gravity and BJ robot stuff was facetious, duh.), hopes, dreams, and speeches about how Obama is basically the second coming who will single handedly usher this nation into a previously unheard of state of prosperity, and then none of that coming true---
Unintentional Comedic Gold.
