Plot Summary
America’s most respected religious leader, John Luther (James Remar), is the last obstacle to the passage of legislation that would require all religious leaders to give other faiths equal time. When Luther refuses to support this bill, sinister political forces frame him for the murder of an innocent girl to get him out of their way. As an evangelist turned fugitive, Luther must stay alive long enough to prove his innocence, seek vengeance against the girl's murderers and expose corruption at the highest levels of politics and religion. It's a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that will threaten the entire Christian community in America.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Just why one particular TV preacher is so all-fired important isn't clear, and neither is anything else about this overwrought mess.
Rotten: Straw-man cinema doesn't get much more ludicrous than this heavy-handed, Christian-themed minister-on-the-run thriller.
Rotten: Persecuted squanders the talents of its impressive cast -- including James Remar, Bruce Davison, Fred Dalton Thompson and Dean Stockwell -- with its bizarre premise and inept execution.
Rotten: The Lord works in mysterious ways but "Persecuted" works in blundering, obvious ways, straining a Christianity-under-attack theme through a dopey thriller.
