Plot Summary

Filmed at Hammersmith Apollo in March of this year, “New Blood – Live In London” captures Peter Gabriel performing live with the 46 piece New Blood Orchestra. The repertoire mixes cover versions from his “Scratch My Back” album with classic tracks from across his solo career in brand new orchestral arrangements. Gabriel is a renowned live performer and his onstage charisma and instantly recognizable voice combine brilliantly with the orchestral sound palette to breathe a new sense of wonder into familiar songs. As you would expect the concert is also a visual feast, with graphics, animation and imagery blending to enhance and illustrate the music. This is truly a live experience not to be missed.

Peter Gabriel New Blood Live In London

This video is breathtaking. As the write-up says, it's a visual and artistic feast, all with the intent to frame the dynamic between Peter Gabriel and this 46 piece orchestra. Anyone who appreciates the brilliant body of work of Gabriel, from his lead vocals with Genesis (pre Phil Collins) to his solo work and work with world music artists, will be blown away with how fresh and powerful these new arrangements are. This ain't a field trip to the symphony in the 70's.

Any Prog Rock fan should see this- and then listen to the Genesis song "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway," also sung by Gabriel- written in 1974. It doesn't get any better.

Peter Gabriel New Blood Live in London

This performance literally gave me the chills - I have always been a Gabriel fan; however, this is a new favorite. While the songs have been adapted orchestrally, each one is a new gem. Listen closely to San Jacinto - it brought tears to my entire family's eyes whilst in the background.
Wow! Peter may have grown older…but the maturity of this performance is the only thing 'old' about the sound. His voice is at it's peak…even reminds me of the high notes of the Security days.
Must listens (at the top of your player's sound):
San Jacinto
Intruder
Mercy Street
What an amazing comeback for Peter!

Peter's on fire...

I have been a fan of Peter Gabriel for a long time but this concert elevated my respect for an artist who stands alone in his vocal talent. This man was given a gifted voice that has only ripened with his age. The orchestra was like a flood of emotion filling my heart. What an incredible way to transform the songs we have come to know and love so much. Peter, we love your creations and recreations. You are truly a gifted person.
