Plot Summary

There's the road less traveled. There's the road to redemption. And somewhere in between is a one-way ticket to Kansas City for wayward Scottish rugby star Keir Kilgour. Even at the highest level, rugby didn't pay players until the mid-1990s; it held on to the amateur ideal longer than any other sport. And now, the greedy but talented Keir and his old-school father, rugby legend Finlay Kilgour, find themselves stranded on opposite sides of that ideal. When Keir’s drive for fame and money collides with his quest for love and respect from his critical father, things get ugly. Following an appalling act of selfishness, Keir flees his rugby background in a delusional pursuit of greater stardom in the high-profile world of professional American football. When the bubble of his rash, big money dream bursts, Keir -- demoralized, broke, but too proud to return home -- stumbles upon an unlikely group of saviors, the Kansas City Wanderers. A failing second division rugby club, the Wanderers are a motley collection of weekend warriors who are amateurs in the worst sense of the word. As the Wanderers can attest, everyone does stupid things. But, it's not always what you do that matters. It's what you do next. Get up. Play on.

Best RUGBY Movie to Date

This is by far the best movie dedicated to the sport of rugby that I've ever seen. As an American rugby player who has been on teams much like the Kansas City Wanderers, this movie really captures the essence of how rugby players live their lives through this great sport. You have the older guy that knows he should probably quit playing but he can't, not only because it would hurt his team, who in all honestly can be closer to you than your blood family at some points, but also because rugby is just so addictive, and it's darn near impossible to give up. The movie also captures the moments where sometimes the "family" of rugby players don't get along for whatever reason and it really captures emotions that I have personally witnessed on the pitch or in the pub. Emotions of animosity towards one another, but that animosity is mixed with the feeling that you know your rugby brother (or sister, can't forget about the womenfolk) will have your back at any time for any reason even if you hated each other ten seconds before. I may be biased, as I play rugby and have felt many of the emotions portrayed in this film, but either way this is an excellent movie to watch, even if you don't like rugby. It's a great sports movie. If given opportunity, this movie has the potential to raise interest in rugby within the United States. I wasn't aware of how tightly knit the rugby culture is in America, or how wide spread it really is. I'm pretty sure that every major city has at least one team. College rugby is growing in popularity again. Rugby is coming back to the Olympics (albeit, in a modified 7-man structure). If you don't know anything about rugby, watch this movie. When you're done, get on Google, look up your local team, go to a practice. Once you do, you'll be hooked and you'll never look back. I am still a young rugger, but like I said earlier in this long rambling quasi-review, I've personally experienced almost all of the aspects of the game that this movie portrays in real life. And I just realized I haven't even mentioned the main plot of the Scottish professional rugby player trying to get out of his legendary fathers' shadow. Keir's character deals with this struggle the way any normal person would I think. I really can't recommend this movie more. Buy it on here, or watch it on the filmmakers' website. Just watch it. Then, if you haven't before, go play rugby. Then watch it again. You'll get what I was saying above as soon as you play. THANK YOU developers for making this movie. USA Rugby will benefit greatly from your efforts.

If you're involved in Rugby you'll get some good laughs about all the stereotypical teammates. If you're not involved in Rugby, this movie is still a good story, good acting, good cross cultural conflict. If you like a good Indie movie, rent it. You can see why its won Film Festivals, its very accessible for all. If you play rugby, a great date movie. If she doesnt get it, hmmm, think hard about your future!

Best Rugby Action in a movie to date!

I am a rugby fan, and have to say that this film had some great rugby action scenes! Much better than Invictus. There is a great feeling of commradere in the film amoungst the characters, just like any small town rugby club. A very fun film to watch for anyone who has played the game!
