Plot Summary
The grass isn’t always greener on the other side of obesity. “Pretty Ugly People” tells the story of Lucy, a newly svelte young lady (thanks to the help of gastric bypass surgery) who gets her old friends back together for a four day camping trip to show off her new self. However, she learns the idyllic lives she thought her friends would have are actually conflicted and confused. Unexpectedly, Lucy’s arduous hike morphs into an unlikely reawakening of sorts resulting in strengthened friendships and self-acceptance.

B movie with an A rating.
Mix the Big Chill and some great character development thus you get Pretty Ugly People. It's nothing award winning but it is worth watching!

Seriously don't waste your time
While I appreciate really good films, I am not embarrassed to admit that I also enjoy what many critics would deem to be mediocre movies. This was terrible. If I could get back the time I spent watching it, I would, and there are VERY few movies I would say that about. I like almost anything... foreign films, 80s schlock, anything with Amanda Bynes, thrillers, etc. I love Melissa McCarthy, and the cast in this wasn't bad. The script was terrible, the premise was shaky, and it was just not enjoyable. I watched the whole thing, thinking maybe it would get better, and it never did. I have taken a chance on many a cheap rentals on iTunes and been pleasantly surprised, or at least entertained, and this is the first bona fide dud I've come across.
