Plot Summary
Alain Delon was at his most impossibly beautiful when Purple Noon (Plein soleil) was released and made him an instant star. This ripe, colorful adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s vicious novel The Talented Mr. Ripley, directed by the versatile René Clément, stars Delon as Tom Ripley, a duplicitous American charmer in Rome on a mission to bring his privileged, devil-may-care acquaintance Philippe Greenleaf (Maurice Ronet) back to the United States; what initially seems to be a carefree tale of friendship soon morphs into a thrilling saga of seduction, identity theft, and murder. Featuring gorgeous on-location photography in coastal Italy, Purple Noon is crafted with a light touch that allows it to be suspenseful and erotic at once, while giving Delon the role of a lifetime.

Fresh: Rene Clement's subversive direction makes us root for Delon to pull off a tricky tightrope disguise as suspicious police pursue him from hotel to apartment and town to town.
Fresh: Its mechanical aesthetic suggests that rather than having to sublimate what remorse Tom Ripley might feel toward his actions, he simply doesn't experience any.

I wish it was priced to buy lower!
There are no words to describe how gorgeous this movie is. From the scenery to the story and the cast you have never seen a movie like this. And of course, the greatest actor in the history, along side Brando, Alain Delon. How a man can be this handsome and have such remarkable acting chops is hard to believe. Men with too much beauty are not too interesting on the big screen. Delon is the sole exception, he brings fascinating complexity to the existential antihero. This along with Le samurai are his best work and in my opinion two of the best movies ever made. This version is much superior to the lame Hollywood remake with Mat Damon. See it ,you will love it! iTunes, more Delon movies please.
