Plot Summary
After an eventful afternoon at the beach with his brother, successful executive Pietro (Nani Moretti) returns to his summer home only to discover that his wife has suddenly died. Devastated, Pietro vows to be a source of stability for their ten-year-old daughter, Claudia, while trying to make sense of his loss. In the meantime, Pietro’s company is in the midst of a high-stakes merger, with his colleagues desperate to know which side he’s on, while his volatile sister-in-law (Valeria Golino) has unexpected news of her own. As he struggles to come to terms, Pietro starts to reconnect with the people around him in a deeper way, and glimpses new possibilities on the horizon. “A thoughtful portrait of the purgatory of grief that prefers small incidences and exchanges over grand gestures of sentiment and revelation. It’s sad – but never cloying.” –Calhoun, TIME OUT. “Beautifully modulated, fluidly told film expresses pain with warm understatement.” – Weissberg, VARIETY. From IFC Films.

Quiet Chaos
A lovely movie. Thoughtful, unpredictable, and perfect in its own way. From time to time I still think about what might have been said between the two men in car.
